Families are for keeping yourself protected. Families love each other. Parents are especially made for keeping you safe.
Families are the most fun to play with. Families aren’t just the people you live with, they include cousins, uncles, aunts, grandfathers, and grandmothers. People out of your family can’t be your twin.
A non-grown-up boy who is in your family is called your son or brother. A non-grown-up girl who is in your family is called your daughter or sister. An adult male who is in your family is called dad or daddy or father. An adult female is called mum (aka mommy, aka mother, aka mom).
They help each other and love each other. Families touch you in good ways and sometimes mean ways: they can wrestle, hug, kiss, slap on the back, high five and other ways.
Pets are part of your family.
Sometimes the families have silly names (e.g. Silly Family, Short Family, Yucky Family…funny things like that).
I like that families work together like a team.
If I didn’t have a family right now I would not have a house and food. And the most important, I could be lonely and sad.
I’m glad I have a family.
I wanted to learn about how snakes can eat things that are larger than themselves. I want to know that because it’s interesting how they are able to do that. How?
I learned that their jaws split in four so the mouth gets larger. When they swallow their prey their skin stretches out to make room for their prey. They eat deer, pigs, chickens and much more.
Imagine if you were being eaten by a snake! It’s really cool. Snakes do have bones.
Before eating the prey, snakes wrap their body around its food and squeeze it when it moves or breathes.

Buffy, our grandparents’ dog, was the first mammal to come over to us when we arrived. She was happy to see us. Then Patsy, our grandmother, came over and welcomed us. I was very happy to see them. They have a very nice house. I gave myself a tour.
I spent most of the time with Buffy. Whenever I go down low Buffy looks at me and then licks me. It’s funny. She goes out the doggy door a lot and mostly goes down to the garage so I go inside. If I am not outside then I usually play hide and go seek with my cousins, Blake and Cathryn.
Kim and Michael, my aunt and uncle, came pretty soon with their dog Mufasa. I had cereal for breakfast.
My ideal pet would be a goldfish because I like watching fish swim around in tanks. I like goldfish because my favorite color is gold.
I would get a rectangular tank because they have more space than other tanks.
I would name my fishes Goldie, Charm and Swimmer.
I would want to travel under the sea because I love science. If Daniel Radcliffe was my relative, I would bring him. (He’s so cute!) I would bring back some fish so they can be my pets.
I love traveling. My favorite sea animal is an eel. I’m good at drawing eels. I know octopuses fight with sharks. It will probably be scary if I go down to the sea.
I got a ocean animal drawing book at the library. Now I know how to draw marine animals. I love using it.
If I had a week to live I would spend the week with my grandparents. I would play games with them, we would read to each other, and we would also play music. On the last minute to die I would say, “I will miss you. I love all of you. Bye!” I would cry. When the minute was over I would fall down and close my eyes and die.
Your brain turns off when you die. If you were in the ground, bugs would eat your skin. You wouldn’t know anything’s happening to you. If you woke up from the dead, you would not know anything. If your friends didn’t know you were dead and then find out, they would be crying because they care about you and it’s horrible.
I would cry if one of my friends died. There are lots of ways you could die: a car crash, a gun, too sick, too old, a bow-and-arrow, and fighting.
Last night we had our first family night. It is about family members sharing with each other. We talk about things we did during the week and we spend time together doing things we enjoy.
First we went over family business. I had nothing to say. We also talked about what we learned this week. I said I learned that for the first time I heard the word visualize and learned what it means. It means to create a picture in your brain.
I really enjoyed the 2008th year. The thing I liked most was school. I know everything they teach us, so basically the teachers are not teaching me. My teacher is Darcy Holland. I am so excited about third grade because I can’t wait to see the school (which is a different building) and meet my teachers and my classmates!
The worst thing that I did was going to the lighthouses and beaches on cold (or not-hot) days. That’s my dad’s hobby. My hobby is reading (in warm places!!!!!!!!!!!!!!).
What I did most was reading. I love reading! What I read most was Harry Potter. (I finished Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets!)
Yesterday we had Festibond. For breakfast we went to Eggspectations. I had bacon and scrambled eggs with cheddar cheese on top. It was delicious.
We came back late so we didn’t have lunch. We gathered our presents and started reading letters and giving presents to each person. Dad said our present is coming late; Mom said they are giving us a microscope. When we went shopping on Friday, Mom and I stopped to look at a microscope. Mom told me, “We will get one of those for you girls someday.”
