Why is a bunny the mascot of Easter? Is it possible that a bunny is smart enough to hide eggs for kids to find?
Easter comes from the word Eastre, a pagan saxon goddess.
In the 1600s bunnies were first mentioned as an Easter symbol in German writings. Bunnies were to remind you of the delightful spring. It was told that children would make nests out of their caps. Then, bunnies would put eggs in the hats.
In the 1700s, German settlers came to America and told tales of the Easter Bunny. In the 1800′s the first edible Easter bunnies were made. They were made of pastry and sugar.
I was surprised that in the 1600s, kids just found the eggs in their hats instead of looking for them. It was interesting that the Bunny is a symbol to remind you of Spring.
Bunnies are the mascot of Easter to remind you of spring. Bunnies are definitely not smart enough to hide eggs.
The girls’ artwork is current on exhibition at the Saco Museum. We visited yesterday morning. It was our first time at the museum.
Hayley made a stuffed fish in her art class. It’s isn’t a fish you could filet and eat for dinner. Nor could it swim in the ocean. It’s mostly made of paper. They drew with oil crayons over the paint. With the red crayon Hayley made lipstick. Then they cut out fish shapes, stapled the edges together and stuffed them with newspaper.
This morning, before meeting Kirsten for lunch at the hospital, we went to the Children’s Museum of Maine. We arrived thirty minutes before opening so we killed time drinking hot chocolate at Starbucks.
Enjoy.
If I could have any pet in the world I would want a dog. Not just any dog, I want a Beagle. I want a Beagle because they are so cute and cuddly. If you sleep with one you will be warm. I especially want a Beagle because I like the pattern of their spots.
My Beagle would be named Brownie because Beagles have a rich brown color like a chocolate brownie. I would buy it a comfy bed, cage, dog food, doggy treats, collar, leash, dog bowl, doggy sized bathtub, scrubber, shampoo, soap, and toys to play with.
I would play with Brownie when I’m not too busy. Later in my life if I was too busy I would buy another dog to be Brownie’s friend. I would play with both of them any time I could and take them on walks.
My ideal pet is a Beagle dog.
Festibond is the gift of spending time with each other.
Yesterday was Festibond. We went to Eggspectations for breakfast. Jenna and I solved the crossword puzzle on our place mats. It took a long time. I figured out the whole thing except for one. To get that one I had to refer to the answers on the back. I ordered a water with oranges, scrambled eggs with cheddar cheese, sausage links and breakfast fries. It was delicious.
Snow is good.
Snow is great.
Snow is like the best playmate.
You can make snowballs and have snow fights,
while flying kites.
Make snow angels;
make snow forts.
You could also make snowmen that ride go-carts.
If you’re really sneaky you could…
crush some ice on someones head.
Patient: Doctor, I need a new butt.
Doctor: What’s wrong with your butt?
Patient: It has a crack.
I love that everyone has such unique character traits and behaviors. The following pictures reveal some of Brent’s and the the girls’ endearing qualities.
What can I say about Brent? He’s such a clown. He likes to make me laugh, and it always works. I love that about him.
